I need some help!!!!!

Hello everyone im shell, i was wondering if anybody knows of an animal charity that could look after my three dogs or of a kennel that isn't to expensive but is still good. My reason for asking is that we have to move but cant find anywhere in private renting that will allow pets ( why do people think that we are all messy and that our animals will destroy their houses !.). I have very good refs as im in private renting at the moment but the landlord is selling so we have to move, our only alternative is for the council to help us which means we have to go into tempory accomodation first and my animals are not aloud to go ( they couldn't give a damn about them) its killing me as i don't want to be apart from them i could be week or a month that we have to stay in one of these places. So if anyone has any ideas i would love to know, my dogs are called cj daisy and bow, they are mother son and daughter and are a cross german shepherd. i also have two cats fluuf and pepper and a gerbil blackey but have somewhere for them to go until we are housed. I love my animals and would do anything for them and would never ever give them up!

Could you not ask a friend or family member to dog sit for a while? kennels are so expensive these days, i had a dog walker who has a place out in the country side and he had my dog for a while but i cant remember his name or contact details but if i come across them i will send them to you. good luck

Hello, all my friends and family have dogs and cats so they cant go there, i phoned a kennel that sounded really nice but will cost me £175 a week and said once i take them in i won't be able to to visit as they won't settle, they have never been away from me and i dont want them thinking i have left them.

And i cant split them up either, i think i will end up sleeping in the car with them at this rate!!!!!

Hi Shell, welcome to our forum I'm so sorry to hear you've got to find fosters for your babies untill you get a home. A friend of mine is in temporary housing but luckily allowed to have her 3 dogs with her, some councils are different than others. I foster occasionally, but 3 GSD sized would be too much I think because my flat isn't all that big + i've also got an English Springer and also dog sit my friends GSD once a week round here.

I do hope you can find somewhere for them, I know the heartache you must be going through, I was in the same boat years ago when I split with my ex, I had 2 Springers then, but luckily friends and family helped me out although I had to split them up.

Hello, which council is your friend with, im with affinity sutton ( downlands housing). Its a horrible situation to be in i just can't believe they dont care about what happens to your animals its discusting really. I think my dogs would be a bit of a handful for anyone that doesn't know them which also makes this hard. Well i have between 4 and 12 weeks before we have to leave hopesully something will come up, i will keep you posted, thanks anyway.

Hi Shell, she's with Bighton & Hove council, mind you, 20 odd years ago they never took into consideration whether we had pets or not, I had a cat and 2 dogs plus my 2 daughters but I was put into b&b for just over a year untill they rehoused us. I had my dogs back but we decided to leave the cat with friends because she'd settled in really well with them and thir cats, plus she was going blind.

I was in a similar position , cant tell you how stressful it was , my dogs are my life ..

Have you looked into shared ownership , part buy part rent ... the house is like your own & dogs are accepted ... thats what I ended up doing last year after
my circumstances changed .

Hello, yes i would love to do the part buy part rent option but although we are paying much more a month in private rent than what we would pay for your average mortgage, we don't qualify for that scheme ( we don't have £3000 in the bank and don't earn enough in there eyes). I phoned the RSPCA to see how much they charge to board the dogs and it was more than the £175 a week that a really good kennel charges which i thought was a bit wrong considering they are supposed to be there to help the animals. I have about 2 to 3 weeks left before we move so will have to get the £175 a week from somewhere and just hope we are not in temporary housing for too long, on the up side they said they would take into account the money it will cost for the animals when they decide how much we will have to contribute towards paying some rent while we are in there ( gee thanks for that ! ).

Hello everybody, well its been a long time and a long struggle since i last wrote. We are in temporary accommodation (have been since 21st of april) my dogs have been in kennels since 16th april and its killing me, i saw them for the first time about three weeks ago as i wasn't allowed to visit them before because it would unsettle them ( which i can understand) but i didn't want them to think i had just left them, at least i have seen them now and they are well looked after and look very healthy. my cats are with my sister and i have my gerbil with me, life is rubbish and i just want my animals back with me. I hope things get sorted soon!

Hi Shell, sorry to hear you couldn't manage to get somewhere with your pets although it's nice to know they're being well looked after.

I hope you don't have to wait too much longer before you're all together again.
